About Us
The Wanderlust Women is an initiative born out of the need to normalise Muslim women exploring and being visible in the great outdoors. We are a hiking and adventure group that provides like-minded women with the space, knowledge, and skills to traverse green spaces with confidence.
We are mission-driven, and we want to see women gain confidence in using their new-found or re-ignited skills to explore their homelands and beyond. We want to see more Muslim women in outdoor spaces. It’s a community, a safe space, and a place where we can all connect back to our roots, being God-centred as well as healing from past experiences-all through nature.
The Wanderlust Women's vision in the outdoors is focused on healing and fostering a connection to faith, community, and sisterhood. Through representation and inclusivity, our aim is to break barriers and empower women to embrace the wonders of nature.
We have a vision that is centred around representation, inclusivity, and visibility for Muslim women. We are here to stay; we are here to break barriers and stereotypes placed upon us; and we are here to change what others misconceive as the typical walker, hiker, and mountaineer. The stigma attached to Muslim women and the BAME communities is not only harming them but society at large, and having experienced and faced barriers placed upon her by others in these spaces, Amira has made it her personal life mission to change the perceptions people have of Muslim women in the outdoors through the work we do here at The Wanderlust Women.
If you’ve read this far, the question now is: will we see you on our next adventure?

Amina
aka right hand woman
Hi, my name is Amina - the Wanderlust, not to be mistaken for Amira the Wanderlust (our founder) but we do come as a pair so wherever you see Amira, I will be closely behind. After all, I’m known as the “Right Hand Woman”. I have been a volunteer with Wanderlust since day dot. I have always had a passion for hiking and the outdoors and now I have a community of amazing women to share this with. I feel very privileged to have this opportunity and want to give back to others while keeping our faith at the core of what we do. Finally, I love trying new things and showing that Muslim women are adventurous and have a place in the outdoors.
Best known for:
- making sure everyone is ok,
-becoming friends with everyone esp cats
-trying to adopt a pet from our travels
Ayisha
I’m Ayisha and I’m all about compliance and a bit of maintenance on side. Have fun, but not too much fun. A proclaimed introvert (the awkward one) you’ll find me where it’s dark, cold and gloomy.
I first joined the Wanderlust Women in 2022 abroad and I’ve been following Amira around the world ever since. I’ve literally graduated to stalker status.
The Wanderlust Women has been a safe space for me and a place I can call home. I am honoured to be a part of this tribe and welcome all those who are in need of acceptance, purpose and healing through adventure and the outdoors.

Tyra
Hi, I'm Tyra - Logistic and the Entertainer. When you join us on our trips.. you will know why.
I started hiking with the Wanderlust Women in 2022, at a time when I questioned my identity and purpose. I've always enjoyed being in the outdoors, challenging myself physically and mentally, while also reflecting on Allah's beauty and creation. I joined the Wanderlust Women in Jan 2024, because I wanted to give back to the community that gave me so much strength at the most difficult time in my life. The sisterhood, that empowers Women, challenges them and supports them flourish.

Habeebah
Salaam people, I'm Habeebah. I'm 21 years old and as Amira likes to remind me "one of the gen zs".
What attracted me to TWW were the values this group represents. I have felt welcomed with warmth since the very beginning(on my first trip) and that is how I'd like others who join us to feel. To the many beautiful souls I've met and learned from, it has truly been a blessing and to those who have yet to join us for a trip, I hope TWW is somewhere you feel empowered as I have.

Najma
aka mama wanderlust
Hello I’m Najma, my journey with the wanderlust women began two years ago. At the time I was pursuing my fitness and love of the outdoors, and I was seeking like minded women to share this with.
In 2022 I went on my first group hike, marking the beginning of a journey that led me to trek mountains in three continents and share heartfelt conversations over my home made chai with numerous courageous and inspiring women.
The wanderlust women have become a real anchoring force in my life, I know I will always have women who will encourage me to fulfil my sense of adventure connecting me with my faith.
I’m looking forward to supporting your journey and lending a listening ear over a cup of chai as you grow and experience this community for yourself. My advice would be just go for it, book that hike/trip don’t talk yourself out of it, you won’t regret it.
Warm regards,
Mama Wanderlust.
Maya
Hey there, I'm Maya! From the early days of hiking with Amira during lockdown, I've been part of The Wanderlust Women journey for many years now. As a passionate sunset chaser and bucket lister, I've always treasured the outdoors.
The concept of Muslim women coming together to explore, conquer new heights, and shatter barriers resonates deeply with me. I am incredibly grateful to be a part of this community.
Our intentions are pure, our message is simple.. this is a movement I can't wait to see how far across the globe it spreads!
